The Why, The Facts, The Benefit: Facebook
Businesses are inundated with statements such as “social media is where your business should be,” “you should have a business profile on Facebook,” and so on. But has anyone given you a clear understanding of why?
With social media marketing, specifically with Facebook, you have an outlet in which you can find consumers who are ready and willing to share information. It was once the norm that producers put out their product and the consumers come to them. Now, with the emergence of the social factor, producers are pursuing the consumers and outlets such as Facebook allow you to do so. That is the ‘why’; pursue and reach your potential customer.
In seven years, Facebook has reached over 500 million active users and collectively, these users spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook. These stats are so large that we just recognize them as ‘big numbers’ but can’t possible begin to see the actual strength that they demonstrate. Here are more numbers to digest: • 50% of all active users are on Facebook daily • There are more than 250 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices • There was a study of 3,300+ marketers in which 75% of them stated that their main focus of 2011 was to increase their Facebook efforts

Reaching Your Audience with Facebook Advertising
Just recently, Facebook had beaten Google in the number of site hits per day. Even though your ranking with Google is incredibly important, this tid bit of information makes Facebook a strong contender when considering where you put your marketing budget. And Stellar Blue can help!
Facebook is highly desirable to marketers, not only for its volume of users but for all the tools and plug-ins that Facebook allows to be integrated with business and organization pages such as Facebook Advertising. With Stellar Blue engaging in Facebook Advertising, we have opened up our abilities to share real experience information as well as education to help with your campaigns. Below is a break down of quick information about advertising on the #1 site, globally:
Target: Much like Google’s PayPerClick or AdSense, you set up a campaign and pay for each click of your ad. But unlike Google advertising, Facebook opens your campaign to a finely tuned target. Information pulled from individuals personal profiles, Facebook advertising allows you to hone in on your audience whether it’s by gender, location, interests, marital status age or all of the above.
Engage: Do you want people to be directed to your own web page or something on Facebook like a Page, Application, Group or Event? The nice thing about using ads to promote your pages and events is that Facebook puts a “Become a fan” or “RSVP to this event” button right in the ad.
Budget: You can choose between a cost per click (CPC) model where you pay only for clicks or a cost per thousand (CPM) model where you pay per 1000 ad views. To start your campaign you must determine a bid per click and daily budget. You can set both of these numbers very low, but don’t expect much. Stellar Blue will work with you to determine where to begin from testing to fully implementing. Companies spend any where from $10 a day to $1000 a day depending on the number of ads and the popularity of your audience.
How to Analyze: Once you create and launch your campaigns you need to start tracking and tweaking. Point back to webpage: The use of Stellar Analytics will help you measure the amount of click throughs from this external source. Point back to Page: Facebook has a tool that gives you some information on actions taken inside the Facebook platform. So, if you are running an ad for an event or Facebook page you can use the Facebook Insights tool to monitor interaction.
Keep in mind that the most successful use of ads on social networks is to create deeper engagement so you have the ability to sell once trust is built. With the help of Stellar Blue, we can create an ad campaign through your business page to reach your potential clients by engaging them with your brand.

Creating Custom Facebook Pages for Business
This past February, Facebook announced a new creative way for businesses and organizations using designated pages to further customize their content using iFrame.
Previously, Facebook had it’s own programming page which led to too many limitations and complications during developing. Allowing iFrame integration, you can design any type of page, under your branding to be integrated into Facebook. These custom pages can be used for: • Promotions • Sweepstakes • Contact information gathering • Newsletter signup • File uploads • Interactive media integration such as video or audio
iFrames framed content actually resides on an external website, such as your current website. These pages won’t appear on the front of your website but rather on Facebook. You can design any sort of page you’d like or pull styles directly from a style sheet knowing that it will display properly on Facebook. These types of pages are typically shown as ‘Welcome’ pages for new fans to the page. If you aren’t a fan of Stellar Blue’s page yet, click here to view our custom welcome page. If you are a fan of Stellar, you click on ‘Welcome’ on our Facebook page’s navigation.
Other Benefits: • Track iFrame page views: Since the iFrame content resides on your website’s server, you can now track the activity with website analytics such as Stellar Analytics. • Ecommerce: Retailers should strongly consider iFrame to showcase product. You can add pages for different product categories and allow the visitors to order from your site but directly through the Facebook tab. • Dynamic languages: Think of it this way, if it can be done on your website, it can be done on Facebook. Meaning the pages can be used with PHP, ASP and other dynamic programming languages
As a web developer and designer, Stellar Blue can custom create these pages to make your user’s Facebook experience more enjoyable and interactive.

Google Alert: New Algorithm
|
|
Google has created, yet again, another algorithm that will effect websites that are not content driven. Algorithms, or rules, are set by search engines to help refine their search results. This latest creation, the Panda Algorithm, is placing a higher importance on websites that clearly define their authority and content. Meaning if your website is about cheese, make sure your content is talking about all things cheese versus another topic like selling cars. This algorithm affects websites that are link farms, regurgitating information with nothing credible of its own. This will also effect websites that are heavily involved in advertising. So to combat the change, make sure that the first thing that Google notices on your website is content. Move advertisements below content or to the right hand column. Contact Stellar Blue if you have any questions.
